Do Not Forget the Lord

Do Not Forget the Lord
Deuteronomy 8

Banaue Rice Terraces, PH

1 Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the Lord promised on oath to your forefathers.

2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teaching you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.

5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.

6 Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and revering him.

 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valleys and hills;

8 a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey;

9 a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.

10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.

11 Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.

12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down,

13 and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied,

14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

15 He led you through the vast and dreadful desert, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock.

16 He gave you manna to eat in the desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you.

17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hand I have produced this wealth for me.”

18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.

The Lives of Dave and Grace: The Song

Photo from Bryce Kiguchi.
He had been talking about this song he wanted her to hear. She didn’t have the time or more like they didn’t have a chance to actually listen to it until that night he brought her home after a tiring trip to places she had never been to. He wouldn’t let this day end without her hearing it. He grabbed her laptop and searched for it.

He played it.

She was in awe and secretly catching her breath but she couldn’t stop the tears that fell from her eyes as if they have a mind of their own. So she laid on his lap and cried like a baby with thoughts of sadness filling her. She knew it’s going to be the song she’s gonna listen to when all these end.

A day before her last day, they went out to eat. There was an unbearable silence when his Ipod started playing this song.

“Will we ever see each other again?”

“Will there be an ‘after’ after this?”

“How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?”

“Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?”

She heard the word she wanted to hear from him. This isn't the first time he said it but it always felt like it was.

"Stay", he said while keeping his eyes glued to the road which worked to her advantage.

She knew she probably couldn't say 'No' to him. She didn't say anything. At least not aloud. "I want to. I wish I could."

Just the thought of it brings unexplainable combination of acceptance and resistance. They both knew it could be the last but somehow somewhere in that acceptance is a little piece of resistance so powerful that it could change everything if they were just willing to give it a chance.

But they knew better. “Some of the best moments in life may not be meant to be forever but they can be if we choose to keep them in our hearts no matter the ending”, she thought.

It will be the song that will bring her back to the memory of him and their journey closer to God whether or not they end up together. It was song of faith, a song that honors the One.

God, You're all that we need. You are more than enough. You are everything.

Find Me Here
Speak To Me
I want to feel you
I need to hear you
You are the light
That's leading me
To the place where I find peace again.

You are the strength that keeps me walking.
You are the hope that keeps me trusting.
You are the light to my soul.
You are my purpose...you're everything.

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

You calm the storms, and you give me rest.
You hold me in your hands, you won't let me fall.
You steal my heart, and you take my breath away.
Would you take me in? Take me deeper now?

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

Cause you're all I want, you’re all I need
You're everything, everything
You're all I want your all I need
You're everything, everything.
You're all I want you're all I need.
You're everything, everything
You're all I want you're all I need, you're everything, everything.

And How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
