Light in the Dark

One lazy Friday in Nicaragua, while waiting for a friend to bring me food; lying on my favorite couch, I saw a ray of light on the floor , smiled and took this picture. I was so eager to show it to my teacher - a friend who shared his photography skills. I didn't. I was too shy but inside my heart this image never left me. It was indeed one of my favorites and probably the real very first one I am very proud I took.

The Hole that Made us Whole

This is the 37th entry to Project 365 written 18th of June 2010.

The Hole that Made us Whole

Man has exhausted every amount of his energy to find meaning in this world. He has explored every possible thing he can to find his purpose in life. He has researched every little detail to improve human relationships in hope of finding satisfaction in life. He failed.

The famous mathematician Pascal once wrote, “There is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus." That void in the heart of every single person cannot be filled with wealth, fame, health, education or relationships. Only God can complete the emptiness in our hearts; no one else can, nothing else will. Imagine how unfortunate it is to die without filling that void. It would be awful.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”Phil 4:19

God has completed us. He has filled the hole and made us whole again. What more can we ask for?

Beyond Species

This is the 61st entry to Project 365 written 12th of July 2010.

Beyond Species

I was deeply saddened by a homeless, sickly, thin dog I saw on my way home. What hurt more was that it smiled at me. If you don't know what a dog's smile looks like; see a friend who dearly loves and takes care of one and you'll see "that smile" it can only give to one person. There is a reason why dogs are considered a human's animal best friend. Its loyalty is unwavering. You could have a bad day at work, fight with your partner, get tired with loads of work and get sick and put it all on your dog; yet, it will smile the same, wag its tail the same way, sniff you more than ever and look up to you like you are the only human created by God.

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' (Matthew 25:40)

I firmly believe this verse transcends species.

This is one of the many stray dogs I saw in Nicaragua, Central America
(just like how it is here in Manila). I named him Korn (like the band)
as he came from Corn Island. He stays in the restaurant near the beach
begging for leftovers. I still wish Korn finds a permanent home.

Where is your Faith?

This is the 86th entry to Project 365 written 4th of August 2010.

Where is your Faith?

My faith is not in my faith, it’s in GOD.”

A lot of Christians make the mistake of having a strong faith; but the faith is in their faith. Knowing that we have strong faith sometimes misleads us to believing for things to happen that we neglect God’s real will for us. Our faith should not be in ourselves, nor should it be in our faith, it should only be to God, and He alone.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. “(Galatians 2:20)
